I support big red stop buttons

Having the sun (very infrequently, but still) bounce off of the massive touch screen in my fancy Outback, and the delay of MULTIPLE seconds for the screen to be functional upon start up, I am looking forward to carmakers rolling back the massive touchscreen trend. It is why I would likely replace my GTI with another Mk7 rather than a Mk8 even when those become available. /rant
At least this Jeep looks to have kept hard HVAC controls, so that’s good.

Surprised Ford licensed the red button to them. Appears concessions had t o be made, what with the missing shift lever and all.

That’s not a stop button; that’s the PARTY BUTTON.

I support the “stop gluing tablets to the dash” trend. Same with the funky c-pillar trend. Both aren’t going to age well.

To be fair, most cars have less lag than the Subaru system (i’ve been in a few, it’s bad). My VW screen is usable basically instantly.
The way this thing seems angled leads me to belive it will be a glare friggin magnet though.
Also surprised they didn’t go with the Ram’s giant tablet. They already have it, just slap it in there!

Thanks, i hate it.
Bring back vertical dashes and horizontal consoles. I’m fine with touchscreens (read: I just accept that this is going to happen, like it or not). I’m even fine with the rotary shift knob - the vertical gear select lever is dead, considering they’ve been nothing more than an anachronism for about a decade now anyway.
But FFS, why suck up so much cabin space with the “waterfall” dash?
It’s a Jeep. It doesn’t need a cockpit.

The screens in our GTI s are just the right amount, as far as I’m concerned, and it doesn’t need to be instant functional, because anything I want to do instantly has an actual button. I’m hoping that automakers will go back to this level, but I don’t actually expect that to happen.

Agree. I only ever use the steering wheel for functions.
That, and Apple Carplay allows Siri to take care of calling and texting via voice commands.

Debuting in September. Looking good, can’t wait to see it.

Because it looks good, and techy and advanced?
